Kindly accept this special invitation to SONAM | after dark, a charitable fundraising event benefiting SONAM—Singers of New & Ancient Music.
Come be a part of the SONAM story. Raise a toast, share a laugh, and choose to invest in SONAM’s difference-making work in communities far and near. Meet the wonderful musicians — the wonderful people — who, together, sing SONAM into being.
Cherished guests will enjoy:
heavy hors d’oeuvres
a fully-hosted wine & cocktail bar
one-of-a-kind silent auction items
a charming, sometimes ridiculouspastiche by members of SONAM
the world premiere of How Can I Keep From Singing, a stunning new composition by SONAM Conductor Dr. Allan Friedman
the sheer delight of company kept — extraordinary folks gathering to support an extraordinary organization with an extraordinary mission & vision.
Proceeds from SONAM | after dark convey to SONAM’s 2025 operating responsibilities and to travel assistance grants for SONAM’s 2025 tour, ensuring every singer can participate regardless of personal financial circumstance.
Founded in 2012 by Dr. Allan Friedman, SONAM is a thirty-three member chamber chorus and 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization based in Durham, North Carolina. SONAM is missioned to share remarkable music with remarkable communities, for the benefit of the same.
Proceeds from SONAM’s benefit concerts—held year-round—convey directly to partner charitable organizations, each serving the common good in meaningful measure. Recent parters include The East Durham Children's Center, the LGBTQ Center of Durham, Durham's Partnership for Children, Gigi's Playhouse, TROSA, the Compass Center for Children & Families, and dozens more such nonprofit organizations.
SONAM’s operating infrastructure, administration, and activities are sustained through financial contributions and generous gifts of time and talent.
